2025 Social Impact Report 19 Kapa‘a Middle School Fundraiser VOLUNTEERING AT MCDONALD'S 18 When Kapaʻa Middle School needed extra hands for a fundraising event, Kauaʻi FCU said yes. Nikki, Hazelmae, and Carlyssa showed up at McDonald's, stepped behind the counter alongside school staff, and spent the day doing whatever was needed, taking orders, running food, and keeping things moving. Together, they served over 50 people. That yes matters. Schools on Kauaʻi run on more than curriculum; they run on community. Fundraisers like this one fill the gaps that budgets can't, funding the programs, supplies, and experiences that shape what a young person's education actually looks and feels like. When a local business or organization shows up to help make that happen, it sends a message to students, parents, and teachers alike: your school matters to us, and we are invested in what happens inside it. Showing up for the community doesn't always mean hosting an event or writing a check. Sometimes it means answering the phone when a middle school calls and asking what time you need us there. The ask was simple, and the work was unglamorous, and neither gave anyone pause for a second. Kauai‘i FCU was there because a school needed help raising money for its students, and helping is what this team does, no matter what the ask looks like.
