FAMILY
MOVIE &
GAME
NIGHT
A few weeks into the new year, Kalukalu
at 1624 was filled with a different kind of
energy, the sound of board games hitting
tables, kids laughing, and families just
being together. Kauaʻi FCU hosted a free
Family Game & Movie Night, capping the
evening with a screening of Mulan and ice
cream from Seaside Swirls for everyone in
attendance.
It would be easy to look at an event like
this and wonder how it fits into a financial
institution's work. The answer is that it fits
perfectly.
Financial stress is one of the leading
sources of anxiety for families on Kauaʻi
and across Hawaiʻi. The cost of living
means that "a fun night out" is often not
an option. A free evening with games, a
movie, and ice cream is not a small thing
for a family stretched thin. It is breathing
room. It is a reminder that someone in
their community sees them and wants
to give them something with no strings
attached.
Kauaʻi FCU has always believed that
financial well-being is about more
than products and accounts. It is
about belonging to a community that
takes care of its own. Family Game &
Movie Night is that belief in action, no
application required, no membership
pitch, no agenda. Just a warm space, a
good movie, and the simple, powerful
message that you are welcome here.
That is what Kalukalu at 1624 was built
for. That is why evenings like this one
matter more than we sometimes say out
loud.
